Wen Yunchao, a prominent Chinese activist, created a timeline of arrests of political dissidents under President Xi Jinping. The timeline clearly shows that the Chinese authorities have increasingly detained activists since Xi Jinping became Communist Party General Secretary last year.

Moreover, the timeline does not list people arrested in connection with ethnic movements or those prosecuted for involvement in the Falun Gong religious movement.
