A report released by Asia Catalyst calls on the Chinese government to eliminate custody and education labor camps for sex workers after abolishing laojiao labor camps last month. Police have the power to send sex workers to these camps for more than six months without any judicial oversight. An estimated 450,000 sex workers were sent to such camps in 2010 alone.
