The purpose of publishing a collection of articles by jailed Chinese democratic activist Liu Xiaobo was to advocate the idea of liberty, said the founder of a human rights organization at the book launch in Taipei on Wednesday.
The book, which is in Chinese, is a collection of 99 of the 268 articles by Liu published between 2003 and 2008 on the website of the China Observer, an affiliate of the Washington-based Laogai Research Foundation.
Democracy can be discussed in mainland China but not liberty, said Laogai founder Harry Wu at the book launch, which was held at the 19th Taipei International Book Exhibition. (Read more)
